An old cat can learn new tricks…

We have two 17-year-old cats, Reecee and Murka. Reecee has always been friendly and easy going. Murka, on the other hand, would scratch or bite if someone tried to pet her. She’s easily frightened. But recently she’s changed. Over the past few years she’s mellowed. Now she actively seeks attention. Almost like a dog. When we eat dinner she puts her front paws on my leg and swats my hand to get my attention so that I’ll pet her. And she’ll stay in that position, standing on her hind legs, for several minutes. I wonder why it took her so long to trust us?
